big brother’s thumb
March 31, 2006
It’s coming folks – quickly and almost silently. If you’re paying attention you’ll find snippets here and there, hinting at a future where every step you take will be under the watchful eye of Big Brother Government.
a snippet in a TRN news article today:
“The initial mail out warned that the Federal Communications Commission requires wireless phone carriers like U.S. Cellular to make their customers use wireless phones with GPS technology.”

realized today…the navigation links below each entry here on 2withspirit. If there is an entry after the one you’re currently reading, there will be a “next post” link above the [current date] link. If the post you’re reading is the last entry, there will only be a [current date] link.
around the web
March 28, 2006
Mark J Victor of Strike the Root makes some very valid points regarding freedom and the war on drugs.
[ There was a link here to an interesting story about a Boston family victimized by FBI-protected mobsters. A 3 judge panel ruled that they have no recourse to sue the government, because they waited until their lives were no longer in danger before filing the lawsuit.
The article is on one of the biggest news sites on the web and appearantly the evil comment “s-plamming” bastards somehow use linkbacks as a way to spread their comment advertising BS. may they be blessed with an eternity burning in hell.
so I had to remove the link. sorries ]
flashing lights
March 24, 2006
I gave my grandmother a crystal chandelier and matching lamp awhile back. Rick had given them to me a few years ago. As soon as the chandelier was installed, all the lighting in the living and dining rooms began flashing on and off fairly often. A test on the electricity and lighting provided no explanations. For quite some time after you would hear my grandmother chastising Rick to leave the lights alone when they did their on/off/on thing.
Last night I turned the lamps and chandelier off then laid down on the floor with Hannah as she drifted to sleep.
“Catonya, are the lights still flashing on and off at your house?” (recurring problem since Rick’s death)
“No, actually they haven’t done that in quite awhile. Yours?”
“No, been pretty quiet.”
5 minutes later the chandelier and corner lamp flashed on and off and the lamp on again and stayed on.
“…nevermind. I spoke to soon,” laughed my grandma.
Hannah opened her eyes and giggled, “Daddy Wick.”
FLASHING LIGHTS OF A DIFFERENT KIND
Why do officers of the WFPD have no grasp of their own pursuit policy?
Read this recent letter to the editor (scroll half way down to “Unsafe Streets”) from a citizen who was almost run over 2 times by an unmarked police car during a pursuit in the middle of the city. This pursuit didn’t make the local news reports. No surprise given WFPD has encrypted all radio transmissions. Makes you wonder just how much more they’re getting away with doesn’t it?
Going to try something different. I know navigating entries got a little weird after changing the first entry to open as the home page. And there’s no way to know if I’ve made more than one entry a day unless you click on the next entry link. Let’s see how this works- if I make more than one entry in a day, rather than being on seperate pages- the rose will act as a divider- posts from the same day will be on one page. Let me know if you like or dislike this idea.
thanks.

Hannah was playing dress up with some old costume jewelry earlier. Gotta give Rex credit for his patience, if not his choice in jewelry yeh?

last week’s entry is back.
It occurred to me after I posted, I should ask if he would be uncomfortable with my writing about him/us in a public forum.

in my life.
wow- if you knew how long it took me to type that out loud here…
He lives within a few miles of me.
He was up with me at 3am with ice water and extra blankets when my fever was too high – so he’s seen me at my worst.
He has a good heart and a great smile.
and he makes me smile alot.
He’s incredibly sexy and my stomach does that butterfly thing every time I see his name on caller ID.
I’m happy.
and that’s all I’m saying because I don’t wanna jinx it.
peace.

Oh Catonya…I won’t jinx it either by turning into a blithering idiot and seeming like a proud Papa on his only daughter’s first date, prom night, graduation….this brought tears to my eyes…had to read it twice. I am simply overjoyed. You took that mountain of a speed bump, Sister! I just love you.
local rapper jailed for lyrics

Scary” because the lyrics were directed towards them. The rapper, who goes by the name “C-NILE,” had released an album for sale at a local retailer. When Hastings’ employees found out what the lyrics said, they pulled it from shelves right away. Wichita Falls Police says it’s not the violent imagery in the lyrics that caught their attention, but rather the specific threats directed towards two different officers on the force. “We’re a close knit group here. We look out for each other on the street. Anytime we get threats like that, we do have to take it to heart. We have to make sure we’re doing what we have to do to ensure our safety,” says Wichita Falls Police Captain Manuel Borrego. Police say the rapper—Cedric Gray—has a long rap sheet. He’s been arrested 17 times since 1998 on a number of charges ranging from aggravated robbery, unlawfully carrying a weapon, possession, manufacture, and delivery of a controlled substance as well as criminal trespass.
