kids stepdad killed in car wreck yesterday

I just received an email from Rick’s older brother.

The kids mom remarried shortly after Rick and her divorced. Her and the new husband were together until last year. He was the kid’s stepdad for about 13 yrs. I didn’t really know him other than in passing at the kid’s ball games, etc.

He was killed in a car wreck yesterday in Wichita Falls. Heart attack resulting from massive head injuries.

Detachment?

new PO

I met the new probation/parole officer for this area today. She’s very nice, close to my age.

The reason for the high turnover in PO’s is because Waurika is part of a larger region. The main office is in a city 30 miles from here. Officer’s live there, get assigned here, and quickly tire of the commute. Can’t say that I blame them.

The new PO said she filed a request to be assigned here for a minimum of 1 year. She wants to be here long enough to make a difference. Finally, some one who doesn’t see being assigned here as nothing more than a temporary stepping stone to a more favorable location.

I like her.

Hannah – surgery

Hannah has ‘minor’ “surgery” Thursday morning. It’s dental work but she has to be under general anesthesia because of her age. Please keep her in your prayers.

pressure this

after spending over $400 last year to shower at the truckstop, purchasing ump-teen various water pressure increasing shower heads (they lie), several disagreements with my grandpa, considering relocating over this stupid water pressure issue, God knows how many phone conversations with plumbers and water well people, and endless discussions with home improvement center personnel, not a single one of them said,
“Hey – for less than $200 you can install a pressurized water storage tank.”

I think I’ll hunt ‘em down. Choke ‘em – every one of them. or drown ‘em, now that would be justice. …drown their incompetent asses.

interpretation

recent chain of events – my actions and the motivation behind them were misinterpreted, hurting someone I care about. When they told me they were hurt – I was blinded by my knowing they had misinterpreted. I discounted their feelings – their interpretation was wrong therefore there was no reason for them to be hurt, end of discussion. Can be quite the self-riteous bitch sometimes, yes I can.

Never easy to recognize or acknowledge one’s own character flaws.
hopefully writing it down will remind me -this is something I need to be more conscious of and work on improving.
